On Sunday, April 14th, as part of the Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP) annual conference, CHAP Co-Directors Raquel Mazon Jeffers and Wendy McWeeny hosted a conversation focused on improving maternal and child health outcomes through partnerships between state agencies and private philanthropy.
More than 50 state officials from across the country participated in the AMCHP session, which highlighted different approaches to collaboration—with examples from multiple states, including California, New Jersey, and Illinois—and shared current partnership opportunities. All with the goal of showcasing actionable ways that private philanthropic partnerships can support the priorities that are front and center for State Maternal and Child Health leaders.
Lisa Asare speaks to AMCHP session attendees.
Our aim at the conference was to offer colleagues from both the public and private sectors replicable models for working together in the hopes of inspiring new and strategic conversations among them. What we found is that interest in sharing and leveraging strengths to address the nation’s birth equity challenges is significant, and we look forward to continuing to help move these discussions forward.
